Flower Tattoo Designs: Are they Just for
Women?
Flower tattoo designs are widely regarded
as a female-only category of body art. While many styles
are considered feminine, this is not entirely true. Some
women prefer flowers because, even if they are not
‘girly,’ a beautiful blossom can make them seem a little
softer. There is nothing wrong with this, however not all
flower tattoo designs are geared only towards a female
audience. Men can wear them as well, and look no less
manly for it!
Impossible you say? It is all in the layout and other elements
you incorporate in. Flower tattoo designs that only feature
flowers may seem very feminine, but consider the positioning of
each element. What if you take a bouquet of darkly colored
flowers, but formed them into a grinning skull or other dark
object. The design may seem less feminine and more elegantly
morbid, as well as more unisex. The more creative you are, the
more you can do with the blossoms
alone.
As I said, incorporating other objects is a good way to come up
with masculine
flower tattoo designs. A coil of rose vines wound around a
sword or dagger might look suitable for anyone’s body, male or
female. Blood or other accents could be added to enhance the
look. A sweet little blossom could push it’s roots deem inside
the eye socket of a skull, for a new take on the original
concept I mentioned. In each case, the flower tattoo designs
could be worn by either a man or woman.
Choosing a non-girly color is also important. After all, a pink
flower is going to be harder to work in more manly than a black
or blue one. Red is rather unisex, although the darker it is
the better as far as staying masculine goes. Flower tattoo
designs could also use multiple colors that compliment each
other. In this case, less manly colors could be used alongside
bold, dark colors in a way that is
complimentary.
Shade your flower
tattoo designs appropriately as well. This can
influence the overall feel of the finished image. A light or
pastel design will look less masculine than one that is darker.
Deepen shadows, although be careful to avoid losing detail. The
size of the tattoo can be adjusted as well to help enhance
detail without losing anything in the shading and
color.
Flower tattoo designs do not have to be all
about flora. You could take a design and incorporate a few
small flowers into it. The look will not be entirely
feminine, and depending on the flower you choose, may even
carry more meaning. Find out what specific flowers mean and
choose the appropriate buds for your
look!
Men can wear flower tattoo designs without coming across as
weak or girly. When the right layout, elements, and color are
chosen, even a design that consists primarily of blossoms may
look very manly. Choose the best look and try experimenting
with color and shading until you have the perfect flower tattoo
designs for men!
